Designated by: Piwowarczyk & al. in Ann. Bot. Fennici 54: 122 (2017 [4 Apr 2017]).

Host: It has been reported as pararasic on various species, e.g., "Parasitic on Elisanthe noctiflora (L.) Rupr. [Silene noctiflora L. (Caryophyllaceae)]; also reported on Teucrium chamaedrys L. and Galium verum L." (Novopokrovsky & Tzvelev 1958: 48[45], sub O. pulchella). "Apparently only parasitic on Lamiaceae sp., such as Teucrium sp., rarely Scutellaria sp.; T. chamaedrys L. subsp. chamaedrys, occasionally T. polium L., S. orientalis L." (Piwowarczyk & al. 2019: 29-30, sub P. bungeana); "Apparently only parasitic on Lamiaceae, such as Teucrium chamaedrys L. (e.g., in its terra class.); needs confirmation for Thymus." (Piwowarczyk & al. 2023: 21, sub P. pulchella). The host-plants need to be confirmed by further studies, below we list those that seem to be confirmed.

Lamiaceae Martinov = Labiatae Juss., nom. cons.

Teucrium polium L., nom. cons. Armenia (Piwowarczyk & al. 2019: 29, sub P. bungeana).

Comments:

Taxonomic observation: it is relatively morphologically similar to Phelipanche coelestis, P. cilicica and P. nowackiana (P. rechingeri). But, all of the species in this group require new researches about their taxonomic position within the genus Phelipanche.

Morphological observations: "tota albo-lanata, cauli simplici humili tenuissimo, spicâ pauciflorâ" (Boissier 1879: 496, sub P. pulchella).

Chromosomatic number: n = 12; 2n = 24 (diakinesis) (Schneeweiss & al. 2004: 441, 443 f. 2 "(R) pulchella, 2n = 24 (diakinesis)").

Distribution: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Greece [in error for P. nowackiana], Iran, Krim, Russia [unconfirmed], Saudi Arabia [in error for P. hypertomentosa], Turkey and Uzbekistan [unconfirmed].

Its distribution is not well known, because it has frequently been confused with other species. Caucasus / Caucas and surrounding area (Novopokrovsky & Tzvelev 1958: 47-48[44-45], sub O. pulchella). Distribution (Domina & Raab-Straube 2010+).
