According to auct. div. However, we do not agree with this opinion, because P. schultzii is not an Asian species.

Accordind to Clarke's description and specimens, it seems a different species to P. orientalis (Jafri 2015, sub O. orientalis, "excluding O. psila Clarke ex Hook. f. from its synonymy" et sub O. psila).

Designated by: [holotype] Boissier, Fl. Orient. Suppl.: 357 (1888); [epitype] Piwowarczyk & al. in Phytotaxa 386(1): 42 (2019).

Host: "exclusively on Prunus sp. (syn. Amygdalus sp.) (Rosaceae), P. fenzliana R.M. Fritsch [syn. Amygdalus fenzliana (R.M. Fritsch) Lipsky], P. nairica (Fed. & Takht.) Eisenman [syn. Also, in various Middle Eastern countries, it has been mentioned, below different names, as a parasite on several cultivated trees of the genus Prunus (e.g., P. armeniaca L. [= Armeniaca vulgaris Lam.], P. dulcis (Mill.) D. A. Webb [= Amygdalus communis L.; = P. communis (L.) Arcang., non Huds.], P. scoparia (Spach) C.K. Schneid. [ A. scoparia Spach]) and others, but these host-plants must be confirmed by additional studies.

Comments:

Phelipanche libanotica has frequently been mistaken with P. schultzii, which is generally much more robust (up to 65 cm) and different in its floral morphology (e. g., calyx with teeth linear-subulate or filiform and 2-3 times longer than tube).

Phelipanche schultzioides is provisionally considered by us to be an independent species closely allied to P. libanotica (P. orientalis), but there is a need for further investigation about these species and their hosts.
