Ind. loc.: "Hab. in Imeritia [Imeretiya / Imereti, Georgia]" (Eichwald, 1831: 17; Piwowarczyk & al., 2017: 122); "In Imeritiâ [Imeretiya / Imereti, Georgia]" (Reuter, 1847: 5); "Described from southern Georgia (LE)" (Novopokrovskii & Tzvelev, 1958[2000]: 54).

Typus / Type: "Lectotype (designated here): Georgia. Imeritia [Imeretiya / Imereti], Eichwald s.n. [herb. Ledebour] (LE!)". Note: The LE sheet contains three specimens, the lectotype being the hairy specimen on the right-hand side of the sheet and marked with the letter "b", the other two glabrous specimens do not represent this species (Piwowarczyk & al., 2017: 122).

Designated by: Piwowarczyk & al. in Ann. Bot. Fennici 54: 122 (2017 [4 Apr 2017]).

Host: Elisanthe noctiflora (L.) Rupr. [Silene noctiflora L. (Caryophyllaceae)] (Novopokrovskii & Tzvelev, 1958: 55; Annotated Checklist of Host Plants of Orobanchaceae, accessed Aug 2009). The host-plant needs to be confirmed by further studies.

Comments:

Taxonomic observation: it is relatively morphologically similar to Phelipanche bungeana, P. coelestis, P. cilicica, P. nowackiana (P. rechingeri), Phelypaea longiflora sensu C.A. Mey. (1831), non Pers. (1806). But, all of the species in this group require new researches about their taxonomic position within the genus Phelipanche.

Morphological observations: "tota albo-lanata, cauli simplici humili tenuissimo, spicâ pauciflorâ" (Boissier, 1879: 496, sub P. pulchella).

Chromosomatic number: n = 12; 2n = 24 (diakinesis) (Schneeweiss & al., 2004: 441, 443 f. 2 "(R) pulchella, 2n = 24 (diakinesis)").

Ic.: a, Lectotype: LE - herb. Ledebour (Imeretiya / Imereti, Georgia); b, P 02968079 - Petropolitani (Imeretiya / Imereti, Georgia); c, Novopokrovskii et Tzvelev, 1958: 48[62], t. 4, f.1; d, P 02968079 - Petropolitani vs. Novopokrovskii et Tzvelev, 1958: 62, t. 4, f.1; e, flowers of the types of Phelipanche sp. (P. pulchella vs. coelestis vs. nowackiana vs. tzvelevii).

Distribution: its distribution is not well known, because it has frequently been confused with other species. Caucasus / Caucas and surrounding area (Novopokrovskii & Tzvelev, 1958: 44[54]). Distribution (Domina & Raab-Straube, 2010).
